Rare Earth New Power Industrialization Project "Hualuo" Baotou

    From: Sina Finance

On April 11, Baotou Haoming Rare Earth New Power Technology Co., Ltd. invested and constructed the largest rare earth new power source in China—capacitive nickel-hydrogen power battery industrialization project broke ground in Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Zone. This indicates that the capacitive nickel-hydrogen power battery for pure electric buses will enter the market on a large scale. It is reported that the first phase of the project will form an annual production capacity of 10,000 units/sets of new rare earth power supplies and supporting parts for 12-meter pure electric buses, with an annual output value of more than 10 billion yuan.

China is the country with the largest reserves of rare earth resources in the world. With the rapid growth in the production and application scale of rare earth permanent magnet materials such as neodymium, iron and boron, tens of thousands of tons of abundant rare earths such as lanthanum and cerium are separated from them every year and are left idle due to insufficient demand. Seriously affected the healthy development of the rare earth industry. The birth of the new rare earth power supply just provides an opportunity to make full use of the stocks of abundant rare earths such as lanthanum and cerium. According to reports, the capacitive nickel-hydrogen power battery contains more than 11% abundance rare earth lanthanum and cerium. According to the company’s chairman Han Shixing, the annual production of 10,000 new rare earth power sources for vehicles requires 10,000 tons of hydrogen storage alloy. This will promote the industrial development of abundant rare earth elements, which account for about 70% of the total rare earth output, in the mining, deep processing, terminal application and other supporting fields. It is of great significance to the comprehensive driving effect of the sustainable development of resources and the environment in my country.

The reporter learned that the new rare earth power source does not contain toxic or harmful substances during the manufacturing and use process, and at the same time, it can realize the recycling and dynamic storage of rare national strategic resources such as rare earth and nickel. Han Shixing told reporters that the formation of a high-end light rare earth industry cluster that integrates batteries, motors, electronic controls and materials, vehicle assembly, and vehicle leasing services with new rare earth power sources as the axis will not only promote China’s nickel-hydrogen battery industry and rare earths. The rise of the hydrogen storage alloy material industry will greatly promote the development of pure electric buses and rail transit in China.
